This is a local initiative, spearheaded by local residents, to preserve this important heritage site for the whole community. It would be ideal as a multi-purpose amenity including a museum, cafe, artists studios and community centre. The mill is a beautiful historic building on the banks of the Camac, the Victorian red-brick tower is a wonderful part of our skyline. Kilmainham is uniquely rich wi

th important history and the mill complements the area, making it one of the most significant heritage areas in Ireland. Because of NAMA, and lack of political will, the building is threatened, firstly, by dereliction and also, by the forces of the open market. The campaigners will persevere to ensure that the building is not lost to Kilmainham, for the sake of future generations. It should be purchased by DCC and repurposed as a public amenity.
