🌿 Youth voices matter – and we want to hear them!

We’ve launched a National Youth Engagement Survey to better understand how young people (aged 18–35) connect with our Dublin Bay and Kerry UNESCO biosphere reserves – and, importantly, what may be holding them back from getting involved.

Whether you’re already engaged in environmental and cultural initiatives or simply interested in shaping a more sustainable future, your insights are important to us!
- Identify barriers to participation
- Strengthen inclusive and meaningful engagement
- Inform outreach strategies across our biosphere reserve network
- Support the goals of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme

🔗 Open to anyone aged 18–35
🗓 Closes 31 March 2026

Visit this link to take the survey → https://linktr.ee/biosphereyouthireland

If you work with young people, please consider sharing this with your networks.
Together, we can build stronger, more youth-informed environmental and cultural initiatives across our biosphere reserves.

Huge thanks to all the amazing volunteers who joined us on the North Bull Island last weekend for a powerful two-day habitat restoration Meitheal, focused on the removal of invasive sea buckthorn. Over two days, we managed to remove over thirty one-tonne sacks (by vol) of berry-laden sea buckthorn, an aggressive shrub that has spread since its introduction to the island in the 1970s. Recognisable by its orange-red berries and thorny branches, sea buckthorn poses a serious threat to native plant life and biodiversity by outcompeting local species and altering the natural landscape.

Armed with gloves, loppers, safety glasses, and plenty of enthusiasm, participants engaged in hands-on habitat restoration, learning safe and effective removal techniques from the seasoned Bull Iland Conservation Volunteers. The physical work was balanced with education, as attendees took part in dune restoration and mapping workshops with Clean Coasts.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the volunteers and partner organisations who made the pilot Meitheal such a success:
