🚧Exciting additions coming to Bushy Park🚧

Installation of new outdoor exercise equipment is set to begin from 27 April 📅
The stations will be placed around the perimeter of the playing pitches, making them easily accessible for everyone.
This initiative aims to enhance the park experience by providing additional opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be active, improve fitness, and make greater use of the park’s amenities 🏃‍➡️💪
We look forward to seeing the community enjoy these new facilities!

🐝🇮🇪 Buzzing with Facts: Native Irish Bees! 🌼✨

Did you know Ireland is home to some seriously amazing bees? Here are a few fun facts to make you appreciate these tiny heroes a little more 👇

🍯 There’s only ONE native honeybee in Ireland – and it’s specially adapted to our rainy weather (typical 😄🌧️).

⚡ Native Irish honeybees can fly in cooler, windier weather than many others – hardy little legends!

🌼 Bees help grow about 1 in 3 bites of food we eat – yes, they’re basically tiny farmers 🧑‍🌾

🌿 Around 75% of wild plants depend on pollinators like bees to survive.

🚨 Sadly, many Irish bee species are under threat due to habitat loss and pesticides.

💛 Want to help? Plant wildflowers, skip pesticides, and let your garden grow a little wild 🌼🌿

Let’s protect our pollinators – because life would be pretty dull (and less tasty!) without them 🐝💛

Did you know there are 100 bee species in Ireland?

✨ 21 Bumblebee species
✨ 78 Solitary bee species

Bees play a vital role in supporting our environment and food supply. Many of our favourite fruits—🍎 apples, 🍓 strawberries, and raspberries—depend on bees for pollination.

Without bees, our landscapes and diets would look very different. So let’s protect them and let them BEE! 💛🌼

The public are advised to exercise caution when entering our parks or open spaces during this period, caution is also advised along all coastal routes.

Dartmouth Square Pergola Dome and Wisteria Restoration Works

Restoration works are continuing on the pergola dome on Dartmouth Square until the end of March

Following a detailed structural survey, the original timber dome has been removed - it had been compromised due to the weight of mature Wisteria and age-related wear. New galvanised steel supports are now being installed and carefully painted (RAL 9018) to complement the existing framework.

The Wisteria has temporarily been removed and will be reinstated onto the strengthened structure. Wisteria is a long-lived climber that is expected to gradually re-establish with careful management and monitoring by Park staff. With time the plant should fully recover.

Thank you to the Bush Park Ironworks for their expertise in delivering these essential works.

If you have a chance visit St Anne's Park to experience the garden — tucked in behind the clocktower you'll find a quiet corner of China.
Designed by the Suzhou Garden Bureau, the garden has recently been restored through a unique collaboration between Parks, Biodiversity and Landscape Services and Chinese master craftsmen who came from Suzhou, China last year.
Suzhou Restored tells the story of the partnership and the Chinese craft tradition — from traditional roof tiling and timber framing to ancient stones sculpted by Lake Taiku — and offers a unique chance to see behind the scenes in Dublin Parks. The film features interviews with Isabella Jackson, Assistant Professor in Chinese History at TCD and His Excellency, Zhao Xiyuan, Ambassador of China to Ireland. Thanks to everyone who made it happen.
