We have published an international review of nursing home experience surveys.

The review looks at how nursing home experience surveys are designed and carried out in other countries.

Findings from the review will help to inform the next National Nursing Home Experience Survey in Ireland and will support a more inclusive approach to capturing the voices of nursing home residents.

NCEP team members recently visited more of our partner sites to promote the National Mental Health Experience Survey and answer queries.

📸 Tembi Fashina, Project Lead, visited the Jonathan Swift Clinic in St James' Hospital and met with Gail Fitzsimons, Administration Manager.

📸 Tracy O'Carroll, Deputy Director of the National Care Experience Programme and Anna-Maria Verling, Project Lead, visited St Patrick's Hospital and met with Siobhan Fitzharris, Service User Engagement Lead, and Mary O'Hora, Information Centre Manager.

We were delighted to see National Mental Health Experience Survey posters and booklets in both hospitals promoting the survey and encouraging participation. This is Ireland's first nationwide mental health survey, and we want to hear from as many people as possible so we can learn from real experiences and improve care for everyone.

We are delighted to congratulate Tracy O’Carroll, Deputy Director of our National Care Experience Programme on her appointment as Adjunct Lecturer with University College Dublin's School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science.
Through this role, Tracy will bring the findings from the National Care Experience Programme to UCD students, encouraging students and academics to access the national dataset that reflects the experiences of over 100,000 people across Ireland’s health services. Tracy is excited to collaborate with UCD on research projects that will highlight the voices and perspectives of people using health and social care services.
This collaboration not only strengthens strategic academic engagement and student learning but also fosters future research that places patient experience at the centre of improving healthcare services. Learn more about our NCEP programme on www.yourexperience.ie

Our National Care Experience Programme is working in partnership with the University of Galway on a project aimed at making the National Inpatient Experience Survey more inclusive and accessible for everyone.
Recently, members of our team took part in a workshop in Galway, bringing together representatives from marginalised communities, organisations working in inclusion health, and colleagues from the HSE Ireland and Roinn Sláinte, Department of Health.
This co-design workshop explored barriers to participation and opportunities to improve accessibility across our work. The insights gathered will guide the development of new, more inclusive approaches within our surveys.
The National Care Experience Programme is a joint initiative from HIQA, the HSE, the Mental Health Commission Ire and the Department of Health.
