Back in last Autumn, Places of ARctue and Inermuros had a pleasure to do a collaboration with IMMA - Irish Museum of Modern Art to bring families and children from Gaza to the IMMA for a day filled with creativity, connection, and imagination.

This truly special family trip was curated and facilitated by Eva Lebbar, Director of Intermuros and Muhammad Achour our Founding Director.

We are so grateful for the great support we had from IMMA team: Lisa Moran, Curator: Engagement & Learning, IMMA - Irish Museum of Modern Art, and Chris Jones, Visitor Engagement Manager, IMMA - Irish Museum of Modern Art — who both made sure every detail was thoughtfully prepared and that all families felt truly at home in the museum space. Your dedication and warmth helped shape the atmosphere of care and inclusion we witnessed throughout the day, thank you so much!

Adults and children guests as well as curators, organizers and volunteers spent at great time together within the museum grounds and studios which became a space for play, design, and storytelling.

Parents and children (aged 3 to 15!) took part in hands-on workshops where they explored about Architecture, Planning and landscaping in simple tools then reimagined the spaces around the museum as a space for play and creativity. check children's deign in the photos.

Then we came together on one table outdoor to have a lovely lunch from a Palestinian cousin, provided by ٍٍShaku Maku

Participants and mainly the children enjoyed a wonderful galleries tour led by Mika and Ciara, who successfully managed the kids’ immense energy with patience, care, and joy.

Many thanks for the Red Cross, for their incredible support in helping us make this happen

And to all the volunteers and students from DCU — your energy, kindness, and commitment were invaluable. Thank you for being part of this day.

This wasn’t just a day at the museum — it was a space for families to breathe, create, and connect.

The collaboration with the Education and Outreach department at the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History at Collins Barracks during the Irish Architecture Foundation’s Open House Junior programme has always been an amazing and successful one.

We're thrilled that the new collaboration, the family workshop “ Reimagining Play at Collins Barracks” has been selected as a finalist in the Children One-Off Activity category of the Inspire Future Generations Awards 2024, run by the Thornton Education Trust

The workshop was commissioned and supported by the National Museum of Ireland. It was featured in the Irish Architecture Foundation's Open House Junior programme, as part of Open House Dublin in October 2024.
