Heard enough about the 1916 Rising?

There's more to it than Easter Week. GPO Museum offers Specialised Tours that delve into particular events, individuals, or other topics in modern Irish history to groups of 10 or more. Many of these tours are ideal for historical societies, active retired groups, schools, third-level courses, tour operators, or any group of people looking to brush up on their history on a day out!

Please note that all specialised tours last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. Booking is essential and tours are subject to availability. Various group rates apply, and enquiries can be made via the enquiry form on each tour’s page at https://www.gpomuseum.ie/specialised-tours/ or by contacting reservations at +353 (0) 1 872 1916

Limited tickets remain!

The 1916 Rising is an event synonymous with modern Irish history and its ramifications continue to be felt across the island and beyond today. However, our relationship with this event and its consequences today is has changed radically over the last 110 years. Questions of how these events are remembered today and who gets remembered have received different answers at different points in time.

Remembering Revolution is a panel event hosted by GPO Museum to mark the 110th anniversary of the Easter Rising and the tenth anniversary of GPO Museum opening its doors to the public. It brings together academics and museum developers for a series of talks and reflections on the development of the Easter Rising’s memory amongst the Irish public and how this influenced GPO Museum’s own development.

Tickets: https://www.gpomuseum.ie/events/remembering-revolution-the-easter-rising-and-its-impact-in-public-memory/

Beginning at 12PM, following introductory remarks each talk will last approximately thirty minutes and the remaining time will be devoted to a question-and-answer session and conclude by 2PM.

In celebration of GPO Museum’s tenth anniversary, this event is free to attend and is only ticketed so as to manage the number of attendees. However, attendance at this event does not include free entry into the museum itself.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy our café, the Green Kitchen, after the event.
