I believe the mobility hubs are great idea and very suitable from a sustainability point of view but very careful consideration was made prior to the proposal. Blackrock is being over built and overcrowded with not enough thought put into parking, open space and the broader infrastructural needs and solutions. The upper car park is an extremely busy space and two charging points exist there already.
With a hub being passed on the main st and another at the community centre and at Sextons, I felt with the amount of concern from the business community in relation to the upper centra car park, a more suitable location could be allocated in phase two of this scheme.
St Furseys terrace also was certainly not suitable with most residents against it, so I’m happy with the outcome of the decisions made at the municipal meeting this week.
