Wee County Big Book Club is a collaborative initiative of Louth Library Service, Creative Spark, An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk and Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda. The ‘wee book’ chosen for 2019 is Skin Deep by Liz Nugent.
Wee County, Big Bookclub aims to promote reading, through the selection of a book annually, that the community are encouraged to read, in the build up to an author event, and associated events within the county. Liz Nugent will be in conversation with Dani Gill, and will talk about her most recent novel, Skin Deep at the Droichead Arts Centre, Drogheda, on September 6th: https://www.droichead.com/show/873605522
In addition to this, Creative Spark will host a crime writing workshop on September 19th with Declan Burke, and An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk, will host an illustration workshop for children on Saturday, September 14th with local artist and designer, Orla Barry, who will guide participants to make and illustrate a mini book.
As part of Wee County Big Bookclub 2019, Dani Gill, writer, curator and Literary Audience Development Officer for The Droichead Arts Centre, will facilitate meetings in the library for bookclubs and individuals to discuss reading, book choices and what County Louth book fans may like to come out of the Wee County, Big Bookclub project.
