Maria O Kane is from the Greenpark area in Dunshaughlin, She holds an International Degree in Irish and French from UCD and a H.Dip in Irish Legal Translation from King's Inns. She is a passionate advocate of the Irish language, currently working with Conradh na Gaelige. Maria feels strongly that social justice, equality and community development must be at the fore of local politics. Her previous

role as a telephone counsellor has led her to believe that a problem shared is a problem halved and has also made her keenly aware of the need for more widespread information regarding support services available. Maria will work to ensure that no one is denied access to a service through lack of information. Intergenerational solidarity is an issue of importance to Maria's campaign; ensuring no-one is left behind in a changing environment and that young and old work together to build a community that works for everyone. Having lived in a rural setting most of her life she has seen many of her peers forced to emigrate and is eager to have this trend reversed. She is acutely aware of the struggles faced by those working in agriculture and intends to be a strong voice that will give the rural community the representation it deserves on the Council. A keen athlete from a young age, Maria has coached children and has completed fundraising triathlons and marathons, most recently for Cappagh Orthopaedic Hospital.

Mar eolas daoibh: Road resurfacing works will take place on the R155 Fairyhouse Road, Ratoath from Tuesday 31st October to Friday 3rd November (both dates inclusive), resurfacing works are also planned for the road down to Ratoath College for Friday 3rd November.
Also, please be advised that after consultation with Gas Networks Ireland, we have been informed that the reinforcement works originally planned for the Rooske Rd, Dunboyne (as part of the Shire works) are no longer required. As such resurfacing works will now take place on the Rooske Road from Tuesday 31st October to Friday 3rd November (both dates inclusive).
Please note the above is a proposed programme of works and may be liable to change due to weather, expected progress etc

A mass mobilization of the Safer Meath Campaign from the whole county will take place at the Trim Castle Hotel, Trim on Wednesday the 11th of October at 7.30pm. A Joint Policing Committee meeting is taking place at this time and we need to let them know that we have had enough.

Right across Meath families are being hit by the scourge of crime, anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and abuse. Safe peaceful communities are being turned upside down by a small number of criminals and thugs. Meath is being hit on the double with regards crime. Our population is growing yet the number of Gardaí in the county is down. This means that Meath has one of the lowest Garda per capita figures in the state. Also Meath is one of the only Garda Divisions in the state without a Divisional Headquarters. This personnel and capital deficit in our county directly effects our wellbeing and our safety.

Please make it on the night and encourage family and friends to attend also.
