Ballinvillon Gardens

Ballinvillon Gardens Ballinvillon is the old mill settlement on Four Mile Water, in Ballycommane, to the east of Durrus village, in West Cork. There are plants for sale.

It was part of the monastic community that was based at Moulinward, on the site of the old ruined Durrus Church. Evidence of extensive pre industrial mill workings are found on the river and this whole area is very ancient. The garden is of a woodland /Himalayan type style and is as natural as is practical. Our main interest is the hybridisation of rhododendrons and decideous azaleas and these pla

nts form the backbone of the garden. There are also many Acers, Magnolias and Camellias and associated plants. Many of the rhododendrons are rare, some being unique and under trial for registration.
2017 THE GARDEN IS CLOSED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES. Due to the nature of the garden, there is no wheelchair or pushchair access. Admission is 5 euro per adult and dogs are not allowed.
