Stories in Stone:
Who are the figures scattered through the grounds of Emo Court and Parklands — and why were they placed there in the first place?
Join us for a relaxed stroll exploring some of the estate’s Roman statues, including figures such as Bacchus and Polymnia, uncovering the stories behind these remarkable pieces.
Along the way, we’ll also take a closer look at the coat of arms and decorative stonework on the house itself.
Hope you can join us!

When: 2.30pm Saturday 30th of May
Duration: 45 minutes
Meeting Point: Visitor Hub ( beside the tea room courtyard)

The servant's tunnel was a prominent feature of the Victorian big houses, used daily by the servants running the house reinforcing the upstairs/downstairs class divide.
Emo Court has one the countries best kept servants' tunnel and always proves a hugely popular part of our house tours.
Come see for yourself and imagine what living and working in a big house was like in Victorian times as you walk the beautifully maintained tunnel.

2025 was a strong year for Ireland’s heritage sites, with 13.4 million visits recorded across OPW sites nationwide.

From Dublin Castle remaining Ireland’s top ticketed heritage site, to strong regional growth at sites including Sligo Abbey, Corlea Trackway, Brú na Bóinne and Emo Court, visitors continue to connect with Ireland’s rich history, culture and landscapes.

Regional highlights included:
👉 Emo Court visitor numbers increasing by 50% following conservation works
👉 Sligo Abbey recording a 34% uplift
👉 Corlea Trackway seeing a 13% increase
👉 Kilmainham Gaol visitor numbers rising by 12%

The OPW continues to care for and conserve 780 heritage sites across Ireland, bringing our shared stories to life through expert guiding services, events and visitor experiences.
