Clare County Council is responsible for the administrative area of County Clare. The council is responsible for the provision of a number of important services. These are delivered through eight programme groups:

♻🎬 Transition Year students from across Clare have been recognised for their creativity and work on environmental issues as part of the Rubbish Film Festival 2025–2026.

The Rubbish Film Festival is an award-winning programme where students create short, one-minute films about environmental topics. Clare County Council supported five secondary schools’ participation in this year’s Rubbish Film Festival with a focus on the theme of littering and the circular economy.

Ennis Community College won Best Film for ‘Hooked on Plastic’. Mary Immaculate Secondary School won Runner-Up for ‘The Influencer’. Scariff Community College won Best Poster for ‘Wasteland of Oz’.

🧡📸 Representatives from Clare County Council’s Road Safety, Fire Safety and Water Safety teams support .

Amber Thursday is an inter-agency public safety initiative involving Clare County Council (Road Safety Officers, Fire Services, Water Safety Officers), and Water Safety Ireland, which raises awareness of the everyday risks associated with roads, water and fire ahead of the busy June Bank Holiday Weekend.

Clare County Council's Local Authority Integration Team was delighted to collaborate with Clare Local Development Company and Clare Immigrant Support Centre in organising an Africa Day celebration at the Pavilion, Lisdoonvarna on 23 May.

The event featured Traditional African Dress and Music as well as African Cuisine prepared by dedicated volunteers.

Sincere thanks to everyone who contributed the delicious food which was enjoyed throughout the day. Special thanks to Lisdoonvarna Fáilte for hosting the event.

The celebration proved popular with over 300 attendees enjoying a vibrant and memorable cultural experience. Thanks to all volunteers and agencies who worked tirelessly to make the event such a great success.

🚒✅ A €3.5 million investment by Clare County Council in the county’s Fire and Rescue Service marks a major step forward for emergency services in Clare, ensuring that communities continue to benefit from a highly capable, professional, and well-equipped Fire and Rescue Service.

Aimed at strengthening emergency response capabilities, improving firefighter safety, and enhancing services to communities throughout the county, the investment programme will have a significant impact on the capacity of the service – being directly invested into several key capital projects.

🛶🏃‍♀️Clare County Council has provided a significant €120,000 in permanent sports infrastructure projects throughout the county under the Participation Nation Outdoor Fund (PNOF).

The investment, secured by the Clare Local Sports Partnership, is aimed at encouraging physical activity among people of all ages and abilities through the installation of barrier-free outdoor sports infrastructure, promoting inclusive, accessible recreational spaces.

🌳💫 Schools across Clare are being recognised and congratulated for achieving Green Flags as part of the An Taisce Green Schools Programme this school year.

Green Schools is Ireland’s leading environmental management and award programme, helping build awareness and develop practical habits that support the environment and actively protect our planet. The programme continues to make a real difference for students and school communities across Clare.

Participating schools have been working on themes such as litter and waste, energy, water, travel, biodiversity and global citizenship. Delivered by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce in partnership with Clare County Council, the programme supports a whole-school approach to sustainability over a two-year period.

📢 🚲 Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Cllr Paul Murphy, is to lead a 160km charity cycle in aid of mental health services in Co Clare on Saturday, June 6.

The ‘Mind over Miles’ charity cycle, which will benefit the Samaritans (Clare Branch), will begin at Loop Head at 8am, with the riders making their way through County Clare. The 100-mile route takes in Kilrush, Kildysart, Clarecastle, Quin, Tulla, Feakle, Scarriff, Mountshannon and Whitegate before finishing at the Galway county boundary.
