Virgin Atlantic flight VS-165 (A330-941) diverted to Shannon after experiencing an engine issue over the North Atlantic.

Shannon Airport's Fire and Rescue Service was backed up by units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Shannon and Ennis stations; several National Ambulance Service resources and Gardaí.

The Aran Islands RNLI lifeboat had been placed on standby as a precaution.

The flight landed safely.
