After 26 wonderful years at the helm of The Monageer Tavern, we feel the time is now right to close this very special chapter of our lives and begin a new one.
When we first opened the doors of The Monageer Tavern in June 2000 we could never have imagined the journey that lay ahead. What began as a business quickly grew into so much more. It became a huge part of our lives, a family business, a local shop, a place to meet, a place to celebrate, a place where locals could call in for a good home cooked dinner and for many, a home away from home.
Over those 26 years, we have experienced many highs and some difficult lows. There were challenging times, but there were also moments of success and pride. Through it all, the support of our staff, customers, friends and family helped us keep going.
To our staff, past and present, we want to say a very special thank you. So many great people have played a part in The Monageer Tavern over the past 26 years. Your hard work, loyalty, friendship and support will never be forgotten.
A special mention must go to our children, Denise, Darren, Darina and Danielle, who have all put in countless hours, long days and late nights behind the bar over the years. They grew up around the Tavern and learned from a young age the meaning of hard work, responsibility and commitment. We like to think that all those hours behind the bar played a small part in shaping the strong work ethic they have today, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.
Another very special mention must go to Brian, who has been there with us through every stage of this journey. Always there to give a hand when needed. Your hard work, loyalty and friendship have meant so much to us over the years. Thank you for everything.
To our customers. Many of you became friends, familiar faces and a huge part of the Tavern family. Some of you have been coming through the doors for so long that you became part of the furniture! From those who always had their usual seat, to those who called in regularly for a pint, enjoyed a meal, celebrated a special occasion or called in for a chat over a cup of tea, we are grateful for your loyalty and support.
Over the years, The Monageer Tavern has been the backdrop to so many happy memories for so many people. So many stories, laughs and memories were made within those walls. From special occasions, lively music sessions and those simple evenings of just dropping in for a pint and a bite to eat! We feel very grateful to have been part of those special moments and want to take this opportunity to say a thank you to every single customer for your custom and support over the past 26 years. Whether you were a regular, a passing customer or someone who called in for a special occasion, every visit contributed to what The Monageer Tavern is today and it is the people who have walked through those doors that we will remember most fondly.
Being a family run business was always something very special to us. Of course, working with family for 26 years wasn’t always easy, there may have been the odd disagreement, a few “discussions” and plenty of opinions flying around! 😂 But at the end of the day, we always pulled together, supported one another and got the job done.
We are proud and delighted to announce that the business will remain within our family. Knowing that something we have poured so much of our lives into the past 26 years will continue on with our daughter Denise and her husband Pa makes closing this chapter that little bit easier.
As we now hand over the reins, we want to wish our daughter Denise and her husband Pa the very best of luck as they take The Monageer Tavern into its next chapter.
We have no doubt that they will make it their own while carrying forward the legacy that we have built together over the past 26 years. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.
