Remembering Maureen O’Hara ❤️🎬

Today, we celebrate what would have been the 106th birthday of Maureen O’Hara, one of Ireland’s most beloved Hollywood stars and a woman whose connection with Foynes remains a treasured part of our story.

Born in Dublin on 17 August 1920, Maureen O’Hara went on to enjoy an extraordinary career on the silver screen, starring in classics such as The Quiet Man, Miracle on 34th Street and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

But Maureen’s connection to Foynes was much more than a chapter in Hollywood history. Maureen cut the ribbon to officially open our museum in 1989 and continued to be a patron until her death.

Today, her legacy lives on here at Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum. Our Maureen O’Hara collection celebrates her incredible life and career, and visitors can discover more about her connection to Foynes and the many Hollywood stars who passed through our doors.

We are also incredibly proud to have Maureen O’Hara’s Honorary Academy Award (Oscar) on display at the museum — a truly special piece of Hollywood history here in Foynes.

🎬 Happy 106th Birthday, Maureen.

Your star continues to shine brightly in Foynes. ❤️
