Anniversary of Pte Billy Kedian, DSM (Honour)
Sunday, 31 May 2026
Twenty-seven years ago, Pte Billy Kedian DSM, one of our own from An Chéad Chathlán Coisithe, lost his life while saving others in Lebanon. Today, at Saint Patrick’s Garrison Church, Renmore, a huge congregation gathered to remember Billy at Holy Mass, including his sisters, Ann & Mary, their families, and Billy's friends and comrades. Serving personnel were led by Ceannasaí An Chéad Chath, Lt Col Coffey, and veterans were represented by O.N.E. Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann ONE Veterans Charity, O N E Galway Branch, and Post 30 Galway Irish United Nations Veterans Association, Irish United Nations Veterans Association.
The following text is taken from the Irish United Nations Veterans Association archives:

Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas sioraí dó."
May Billy continue to rest in peace with God and may his story of laying down his life for his friends inspire all of us in our service and our peacekeeping, and may his heroism never be forgotten.
