We are delighted to have been awarded funding by FORUM Connemara CLG through the Rural Development Programme for Ireland’s CAP Strategic Plan 2023 - 2027 (LEADER).

This funding is for the provision of a playground, stone wall and drainage works and represents a further investment of approx. €243,170 in our park.

We look forward to works starting in early July and Creative Play Solutions were the successful tender for the playground, the groundworks and stone wall will be completed by Colin Connolly Plant Hire and Civil Consultant for the project are Langan Consulting Engineers.

We were delighted to welcome Minister Dara Calleary TD from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and Mr. Liam Conneally from Galway County Council this week.

We have received significant investment from the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2021 and CLÁR 2024 and it was great to finally showcase all our magnificent park.

Best of luck to everyone taking part in the Delphi half marathon and 10k. The race finishes another park so be aware it will be busy and the car park will be closed on Saturday 16th May until after lunch.

Congratulations to Joyce Country and Western Lakes Geopark Project on this fantastic achievement and to all involved for their years of dedication and determination in making this happen.

An area across north Galway and south Mayo has been formally designated as a UNESCO recognised Global Geopark.

In 2024, the Leenane Development Association were awarded funding from the CLÁR programme for the installation of Sensory play equipment at the park.

Sensory play equipment is a type of play equipment that is used to enhance cognition in children and improve their social skills. The equipment itself is made to activate the five senses and also body awareness. It helps children interact with and make sense of the world that surrounds them.

We would like to thank Galway County Council and Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht for awarding us these funds and who have continually supported our project. Thanks to Murphy Playgrounds for all their work on this project.

The Leenane Development Association were awarded funding as part of the 2023 Sports Capital Programme. With these funds we have been able to purchase a new ride on mower and leaf blower for the maintenance and upkeep of our fabulous park.

We are most grateful to the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport for awarding these funds.

Only a few more days until this years Couch to 5K kicks off on Monday night at the park. See you all there.

This years Couch 2 5K kicks off on Monday 19th January at 19:30 at the Leenane Community Park. Join this super fun group and kick start your path to completing a 5k in 2026.

There are two in person sessions per week for 8 weeks at the park (Monday & Saturdays) and on Wednesdays you complete the training at your leisure.

The cost is €50 and the proceeds go towards the development of the community park. Get in contact with Stephen to find out more.
