The Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2026 Ceremony was held in the Convention Centre in Dublin last night. Galway City Council were presented with a special award under the Judge Silver Award Category for their work on the Doughiska Skatepark.

This is a highly prestigious award and is at the discretion of the Judges. It is awarded to exceptional construction projects that demonstrate outstanding overall construction achievement, collaboration, and teamwork.

A total of nine projects on the evening were given an award.

Bathers are advised of the possibility of an increase in the levels of bacteria in the bathing water over the coming days due to forecasted increased rainfall and possible activation of storm overflow.

To reduce the risk of illness, beach users should take the following precautions:
• Avoid swallowing or splashing water
• Wash your hands before handling food
• Avoid swimming with an open cut or wound
• Avoid swimming if you are pregnant or have a weakened immune system.

Higher levels of bacteria are usually short-lived and most bathers are unlikely to experience any illness.

Likely Cause: Increased Rainfall Forecasted
Expected Duration: 30/05/2026 – 04/06/2026
Actions Taken/ Proposed: Prior Warning Notices Erected at Beach.

Get ready for one of the most exciting youth events of the summer as Youth Lates returns for Cruinniú na nÓg on June 6th, 2026, with a high-energy open-air gig at Fr. Burke Park.
Designed for young people aged 14–18, this special evening brings together live music, creativity and community in a safe, inclusive and vibrant outdoor setting.

Headline Act: BABYRAT
BABYRAT are one of Ireland’s fastest-rising new bands, cutting through the noise with razor-sharp riffs, anthemic choruses and fearless energy.
