The O’Shaughnessy Society is planning a return to the Lady Gregory in Gort the weekend of May 17-18-19, 2024. Our Big Day Out on Saturday May 18th will be a coach trip to several locations in County Limerick. Please contact us through the FB page if interested. Our approximate itinerary is:

Thursday evening May 16:
• Meet and Greet at the pub, Lady Gregory Hotel, Gort. (The Lady Gregory is booked for Thursday but the Society has arranged a rate for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Please contact the hotel directly at [email protected].
Friday May 17:
• Tour local sites by private vehicle, including the Kiltartan School, Thoor Ballylee, Coole Park.
• Our Annual General Meeting, genealogy discussions, dinner on your own.

Saturday May 18:
• Board coach at Lady Gregory Gort, drive to Limerick.
• Tour King John’s Castle, Limerick, morning.
• Drive to Foynes, tour and have lunch at the Flying Boat museum (see O'Regan Restaurant - Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum (flyingboatmuseum.com)).
• Coach to Glin and have an afternoon drink at the O’Shaughnessy Pub (see O’Shaughnessy’s Pub - Glin).
• Return via Knappogue Castle, leaving time to tour the gardens, banquet starts at 6:30 pm.
• Return to Gort.

Sunday May 19:
• Gather at Kilmacduagh Abbey for a morning service.
• Tea and sandwiches at Naomh Colman (across the street from Kilmacduagh).
• Afternoon visits to Fiddaun and Ardamullivan Castles.
• Evening banquet at the Lady Gregory.
