πŸ™Œ Williams Syndrome Ireland is holding an Activity Weekend for members aged 18+ in Kilkenny from 18th–20th September, and they are looking for volunteers to join their fabulous members for the day!

πŸ“… Saturday, 19th September
⏰ 10am–6pm
πŸ“ Kilkenny – multiple locations

πŸ’œ What’s involved?

The volunteer will act as a companion/buddy to one of the members, helping them get the most out of the experiences and activities throughout the day.

They are looking for outgoing, fun and positive people who enjoy making conversation, connecting with others and getting involved! 😊

As part of the day, you will:

🚌 Travel on the bus with members, volunteers and staff
🎨 Join in morning and afternoon activities, including an art class
🦎 Take part in a sensory tour of the National Reptile Zoo
🀝 Liaise with other buddy volunteers and the WSI staff

πŸ‘‹ For safeguarding reasons and to provide balance for their members, Williams Syndrome Ireland particularly welcomes expressions of interest from male volunteers.

It was not only a warm and friendly get-together, but also a great opportunity to learn more about how ALONE volunteers support older people in Kilkenny – from befriending and visitation to telephone support and more 🀝

A big thank you to Sharon, Henry and Claire from the Kilkenny ALONE office for sharing their knowledge and to everyone who came along to explore new ways to get involved in their community🌟

On Wednesday, the Kilkenny Volunteer Centre Team accompanied a group of volunteers to Graiguenamanagh to help set up for the Ireland's Town of Books Festival πŸ“–πŸ™Œ

It was a busy day – with hard work, plenty of laughter, glorious sunshine β˜€οΈβ€¦ and the occasional dash for cover when the rain arrived! β˜”πŸ˜„

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers for your hard work, energy and support! πŸ‘

And a special thank you to Mary and Maura for making us feel so welcome and well looked after throughout the dayπŸ₯°

Would you like to help empower young people to become the best version of themselves, reach their full potential and play an active role in their community? πŸ™ŒπŸŒ±

ForΓ³ige Clubs in Callan and Freshford are looking for Volunteer Leaders to help create a safe, welcoming and fun environment for young people.

As a Volunteer Leader, you’ll:
🀝 Get to know and support young people
πŸ’‘ Help them choose, plan and take part in activities
🌱 Guide, mentor and encourage them
πŸŽ‰ Support club meetings and occasional interclub events
πŸ‘₯ Work alongside a team of fellow volunteer leaders

⏰ Clubs meet weekly during the school year, with volunteers asked to give around 60–90 minutes per week on an agreed evening.

Become a Flag Day Coordinator in Kilkenny! πŸ’™

Every year around World Cancer Research Day – 24th September, communities across Ireland come together for Breakthrough Cancer Research’s National Fundraising Collections, raising vital funds to support life-saving cancer research πŸ”¬πŸ’›

This year, Breakthrough Cancer Research is looking for an Area Coordinator in Kilkenny to help bring their collection to the local community.

πŸ™Œ As a Coordinator, you will:
πŸ“ Organise a collection in your local town or shopping centre
🀝 Recruit and coordinate a team of local volunteers to support the collection
πŸ’° Help count and lodge the funds raised, with alternative arrangements available if preferred

Their fundraising team will support you with the Garda collection permit, provide buckets, stickers, posters, bibs and charity materials, and offer guidance every step of the way🌟

Could you help bring people together in Kilkenny and raise vital funds for cancer research? πŸ’™
