🎭 Volunteer with Kilkenny Arts Festival! 🎨✨

Every August, Kilkenny plays host to Ireland’s longest-running arts festival – and it couldn’t happen without the efforts of wonderful volunteers.

This year marks the 53rd year of Kilkenny Arts Festival, running from 6th–16th August.

Volunteers are needed to help bring the Festival to life, create lasting memories, forge friendships, and experience the best of arts and culture in our wonderful city 🌟

Volunteering is a great way to experience the Festival and offers a unique opportunity to be part of this diverse, exciting, and inspiring annual event.

🙋‍♀️ Adult Volunteers – aged 18+
Adult volunteers help at various events throughout the festival. Duties might include:
🎟️ Ticketing and ushering visitors to their seats
🎫 Assisting with ticket sales and collections
ℹ️ Stewarding at events and providing information to the public
🧹 Assisting with set-up and clean-up at locations and venues
🚗 Assisting with carpark marshalling at events outside Kilkenny City, subject to volunteer interest

🌟 Junior Volunteers – aged 14–17
Junior volunteers help at various daytime events and non-licensed evening events throughout the festival. Duties might include:
🎟️ Ticketing and ushering visitors to their seats
ℹ️ Stewarding at events and providing information to the public
🧹 Assisting with set-up and clean-up at venues

⏰ Time commitment is flexible.
🤝 Orientation will be provided to all volunteers.
👥 Volunteers will work in pairs throughout the festival.

Kilkenny Mens Shed is looking for a Volunteer Woodwork Tutor 🔨🪵

Kilkenny Mens Shed provides facilities for men to come together to share skills and experience in a friendly, social and supportive environment ✨

The organisation would love the support of a volunteer with woodwork skills to provide some basic woodwork workshops in order to upskill their members in this area 🤝

Basic skills around furniture restoration 🪑🔧 or small scale woodwork projects 🛠️ would be suitable.

📅 This volunteer opportunity is once a week for about 3 hours ⏰ and materials will be provided.

🌍✨ Refugee Week 2026 starts today! 🎉

We are delighted to mark Refugee Week 2026 with our beautifully decorated windows here at Kilkenny Volunteer Centre.

This year’s installation, Courage Blooms, features handmade decorative flowers in a variety of colours, shapes, and sizes. 🌸🌼🌺 These flowers symbolise people who continue to grow despite displacement, loss, uncertainty, and the experience of starting again in a new place.

Courage Blooms celebrates courage in all its forms - the courage to leave, to arrive, to begin again, and to belong. It highlights how communities grow stronger when they are rooted in kindness, creativity, and shared humanity.

If you're passing by, take a moment to stop and enjoy the display as we celebrate the many cultures, experiences, and stories that enrich our community.

There is also a fantastic programme of events taking place throughout the week, with something for everyone to enjoy. Come along, get involved, and celebrate together!

🙌 Volunteers Needed for AKA Fringe Festival 2026 ! ✨🎨

AKA Fringe Festival returns to Kilkenny from 6–16 August 2026, and they are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring 11 days of creativity, connection, and community to life! 🌟

As a volunteer, you'll support the day-to-day running of festival activities across exhibition and public-facing festival spaces.

🙌 Volunteer tasks may include:
✔️ Welcoming visitors and providing information about festival events
✔️ Answering questions and helping audiences find their way
✔️ Monitoring exhibition spaces
✔️ Distributing festival programmes and promotional materials throughout Kilkenny
✔️ Assisting at the festival information desk
✔️ Supporting festival events and activities
✔️ Proofreading festival text, signage, and printed materials

📍 No previous festival experience is required as training and support will be provided throughout the festival.

🌈 This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in a vibrant arts festival environment, develop communication and teamwork skills, meet artists, audiences, festival organisers, and fellow volunteers, and contribute to one of Kilkenny's most exciting cultural events.
