🌳🎈 National Play Day 2026
Hosted by Kilkenny County Council's Community Section in partnership with Cypsc Kilkenny and the Department of Children, Disability and Equality, the free family event welcomed hundreds of children and families for an afternoon full of fun, creativity and outdoor play.
🪄 From magic shows and yoga to giant games, storytelling, balance bikes and soft play, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
This year's theme, "Play for All", celebrated inclusive play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities.

A huge thank you to all our partners, Kilkenny Civil Defence, Sonix Entertainment, Kilkenny Castle and Rayc Sports and families who helped make it our biggest and best National Play Day yet! 🥳

This year's theme is 'Play for all'. Play is essential for children's development, learning, and wellbeing. It sparks adventure and discovery, helping young minds explore the world in fun and creative ways.
🆓Enjoy magic shows, yoga, storytelling, giant games, soft play area, balance bikes, colouring station, and craft workshops. There's an activity area dedicated to celebrating play for all! It's open to all and completely free!

SOS are facilitating A New FREE Age Friendly Weekly Walking Programme kicks off this Thursday, 11 June, from 11:00am to 12:00 noon at the Watershed Track.

This is a fantastic opportunity for older adults to enjoy gentle physical activity, meet new people, and stay connected in a friendly and welcoming environment.
