🌅🧘♀️💜Sometimes we must give ourselves the time to reflect and renew our appreciation of Killarney National Park. 🌅🧘♀️💜

💜 The journey to Innisfallen Island from Ross Castle is sublime and once on the idyllic monastic Island, there is a calm, a quietening down, a serenity.
🩵 In the golden age of monasticism in Ireland, the location of monasteries were carefully chosen. An Augustinian monastery was founded on Lough Leane (lake of learning) in 631, dedicated to St. Finian. It remained occupied for 950 years.
💜 The monastic island flourished as both a university and monastery. It was during Ireland’s medieval renaissance, the monks wrote the Annals of Innisfallen, which chronicle the early history of Ireland, over seven centuries, (now held in the Bodleian Library in Oxford) .
🩵 The video shows members of the Cistercian Order who gathered for their annual formation course at Glencairn Abbey County Waterford, spending a day on Innisfallen Island.
💜 It was led by Sr Sarah Branigan, formation Secretary. Tracy Collins, Senior Archeologist with National Monuments Service - Archaeology who specialises in medieval monasticism, was on hand to share her vast knowledge with the Cistercian community. Boatman was Diarmaid Griffin Ross Castle Boat Tours
