This week is National Volunteering Week 👉 🤝

National Volunteering Week 2026 centres on the theme “From Every Corner, For Every Cause” which celebrates all the different types of volunteers and volunteering that make up our communities.

Volunteers at Coast Guard Units across the country are on call 24/7, providing an essential emergency service to communities across Ireland. We wish to take this opportunity to thank each and every volunteer in the Coast Guard for their dedication and commitment to this crucial service.

Last Wednesday evening we had our annual ORA (operational readiness assessment ) under the scrutiny of Roisin Mc Bride Coastal Unit Sector Manager. We are happy to say that we passed the audit without any issues. This achievement reflects our volunteers professionalism , consistency and unwavering dedication. Your commitment to maintaining high standards and delivering a successful outcome is a credit to the entire team and is a reflection of your positive attitude to ongoing training to achieve this each and everytime you are called upon. It is also a reflection of the upkeep and maintenance of our climbing gear. If you someone in difficulty in the water or on shore please don’t hesitate to call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.

Killybegs Coast Guard were tasked yesterday at 15:15 to the Inver Bay area to assist a broken down vessel, the vessel was towed back to Killybegs Harbour for repairs. With the good weather finally here people are putting their vessels out to sea for the first time this season. With these not being used over the winter months Killybegs Coast Guard are reminding anyone going to sea to have their engines serviced by a registered engineer and where possible carry an auxiliary engine. The importance of fully serviced life jackets, VHF radios and a fully charged mobile phone ensured that the people on board the vessel yesterday had a means of calling for help before they got into difficulty. With more people taking part in outdoor activities during the good weather Killybegs Coast Guard remind people if they see anyone in trouble at sea or near the coast to call 999/112 immediately and ask for the Coast Guard.

Straż Przybrzeżna Killybegs otrzymała wczoraj o 15:15 zadanie udania się do rejonu Zatoki Inver w celu udzielenia pomocy zepsutemu statkowi, który został odholowany z powrotem do portu Killybegs w celu naprawy. Dzięki dobrej pogodzie ludzie po raz pierwszy w tym sezonie wypuszczają swoje statki w morze. Ponieważ nie są one używane w miesiącach zimowych, Straż Przybrzeżna Killybegs przypomina wszystkim wypływającym w morze, aby zlecili serwis silników zarejestrowanemu mechanikowi i, jeśli to możliwe, zabrali ze sobą silnik pomocniczy. Вчера в 15:15 береговая охрана Киллибегса получила вызов в район залива Инвер для оказания помощи сломавшемуся судну; судно было отбуксировано обратно в гавань Киллибегса для ремонта. С наступлением хорошей погоды люди впервые в этом сезоне выходят в море на своих судах. Поскольку зимой суда не используются, береговая охрана Киллибегса напоминает всем, кто выходит в море, о необходимости проводить техническое обслуживание двигателей у зарегистрированного инженера и, по возможности, иметь при себе вспомогательный двигатель. Важность наличия полностью исправных спасательных жилетов, УКВ-радиостанций и полностью заряженных мобильных телефонов обеспечила людям на борту судна возможность связаться с службой помощи до того, как они попали в беду. В связи с тем, что в хорошую погоду все больше людей занимаются активным отдыхом на природе, береговая охрана Киллибегса напоминает, что если вы видите кого-либо в беде в море или у побережья, немедленно звоните по номеру 999/112 и попросите связаться с береговой охраной.
