245 Bus Service!
At today’s municipal district meeting of Fermoy MD I raised the following motion
“ That this council will write to the National Transport Authority and request that Kilworth village be included on every 245 bus service”
Kilworth is in a very peculiar position in relation to the bus service provided for the village.
Kilworth is serviced by the 245 bus service. Unfortunately this service is a very poor and unreliable service for the village. Because of this many in Kilworth can’t rely on it and are requesting a local link service for the village.
Unfortunately though, because the 245 bus service services the village, local link are prohibited by the NTA from providing a local link service for the village.
What is most unusual though is that whilst the 245 bus service only stops in Kilworth village intermittently, every 245 bus service stops at Corbett Court and Kilworth Army camp. These quiet locations see twice as many bus services stopping than what stops in Kilworth village with over 1100 residents.
This makes absolutely no sense!
Every 245 bus service has to stop in Kilworth. No more can people be dropped off at Molly Barry’s cross and forced to walk on the side of the road in the dark, wind and rain.
My motion today was passed and Bus Eireann have been written to and are being requested now to meet the councillors in the area to discuss the 245 bus service for not alone Kilworth but also for Rathcormac, Fermoy, Curraghagalla, Mitchelstown and Ballygiblin.
I thank all my fellow councillors for supporting this motion and look forward to the Fermoy MD having a proper, reliable 245 bus service in the future.
