It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Martina Rafferty, a valued former Board member and a steadfast supporter of Donegal Tourism CLG and Donegal County Council's Tourism Unit.
Martina was a passionate advocate for Donegal and a true ambassador for our tourism sector. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly to promote all that is special about our county, championing Donegal's people, places, businesses, and communities with enthusiasm, pride, and unwavering commitment.
John McLaughlin, Chief Executive of Donegal County Council and Chair of Donegal Tourism CLG, said:
"Martina was an outstanding ambassador for Donegal whose passion for her county was evident in everything she did. She was deeply committed to the growth and success of our tourism sector and worked tirelessly to showcase Donegal on a local, national and international stage. Her enthusiasm, professionalism and belief in the power of partnership made a lasting impact on all who worked with her. On behalf of the Donegal Tourism CLG Board, I extend our heartfelt sympathies to Martina's family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time."
Martina brought energy, vision, and dedication to everything she did. She firmly believed in the power of collaboration and understood that by working together, we could achieve far more than we ever could alone. Her commitment to partnership, community spirit, and shared ambition helped shape and strengthen the tourism sector in Donegal. Our team had the great pleasure of promoting Donegal alongside Martina at various trade shows and events.

Martina's passion for promoting Donegal was matched only by her generosity, encouragement, and belief that Donegal was an amazing place to visit. She inspired those around her through her positivity, determination, and deep love for the county she proudly represented. Her contribution to tourism in Donegal will be remembered with gratitude and respect and Martina will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
