Parke's Castle OPW

Parke's Castle OPW A restored plantation castle of the 17th century, picturesquely situated on the shores of Lough Gill. Access for visitors with disabilities to ground floor.

The Courtyard grounds contain evidence of an earlier 16th century Tower House structure once owned by Sir Brian O'Rourke who subsequently was executed at Tyburn, London in 1591. The Castle has been restored using Irish oak and traditional craftsmenship. Location: On the Sligo-Dromahair Road (R286), 11 km from Sligo Town or 7 km from Dromahair

Photography / Video allowed: Not allowed in the interior of the Castle but allowed on grounds (non commercial). Permission required for commercial photography

Chair Yoga at the castle.
We were delighted to host our chair yoga event this morning as part of the . Many thanks to Grainne (yoga instructor)from and to all the participants who came along and took part. The sun was out and even the sand martin and swallows made an appearance!

Drumlease NS enjoyed their visit to Parke's Castle yesterday. They attended an aquatic workshop and were given a guided tour of the house and grounds.

Biodiversity Event at Parke's Castle with .
Many thanks to everyone who came along to Parke's Castle yesterday evening for a wonderful event to celebrate Biodiversity by the lake. Thank to Kevin from for his very interesting presentation. Then it was out to the battlements and the green area to see the swallows, sand martins and the bats.
Thanks to Rob and Fiona for showing us their collection of moths including the peppered, emperor and poplar.
