Significant water outage to continue overnight

Uisce Éireann working to restore supply to customers in Leixlip, Maynooth and Celbridge following a burst water main

Saturday, 18 July 2026: Uisce Éireann crews are carrying out repairs to a burst water main on the R148, east of Collinstown industrial park, which is impacting supply to customers in Leixlip, Maynooth, Celbridge and surrounding areas in Co. Kildare.

Uisce Éireann crews have been mobilised to site and expect work to continue until tomorrow morning.

Uisce Éireann’s Daniel Kennedy has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while repair works are underway. We expect to complete the repairs and begin to restore supplies by 9am tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Further updates will be available on our website as work progresses throughout the evening,” said Daniel.

Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Kildare County Council have announced they are progressing the Leixlip Pool site. Delighted to hear this, we should see progress by Spring 2027. Feasibility Study and Planning to come. Delighted that the Pop Up Pool delivered stats that drove the case for the Pool. Can't wait to take a swim IN Leixlip :-)

Site is identified, feasibility study and plannning process to commence.
We will need to mobilise locally to ensure the Government provides funding when needed.

Tidy Towns Information Evening
