ERNACT

ERNACT In line with EU priorities for 2021-2027, regions and cities are helping make Europe fit for the digital and green age.

We develop technology that works for people and empower Europe’s built on the new EU digital pillars. ERNACT is an international network of city and regional authorities working together since 1991 to create opportunities for our public authorities, businesses and universities, among others. In line with EU priorities for the 2021 - 2027 period, ERNACT regions and cities are

helping make Europe fit for the digital and green age. We are developing technology that works for people, promoting a fair and competitive digital transformation and moving towards an open, democratic and sustainable society built on the new EU digital pillars. Since 1991, we keep digitally transforming our cities and regions. We are always thinking in the excellence and trust in Artificial Intelligence, European data strategy and industrial strategy for SMEs. Our partnerships create technology innovation strategies, transfer digital knowhow between regions and cities, develop new project proposals and access funding opportunities. ERNACT captures these opportunities by designing cooperative projects and initiatives -with support of the European Union- that recognise the global and interconnected nature of today's digital world. Working within ERNACT, partners have access to a network of like-minded regions throughout the European Union and Atlantic Canada, where a virtuous cycle of ICT project development, research, innovation and sharing of best practice takes place.

🎥WATCH: Earlier this June, ERNACT members and staff came together in Ljubljana, Slovenia, for our biannual Interregional Management Committee meeting.

In ERNACT’s 35th anniversary year, this in-person meeting was especially important. It provided a valuable opportunity for network members and the ERNACT team to exchange ideas, reflect on shared priorities, and agree the strategy for the period ahead.

In the clip below, Programme Manager - Jose Manuel San Emeterio highlights the value of coming together face to face, from workshops on calls and proposals, to capturing member input and explaining new opportunities in more detail.

These meetings remain central to strengthening cooperation across the network and ensuring ERNACT continues to deliver meaningful digital transformation for our regions.

A special thank you to our hosts Andrej Kos and Emilija Stojmenova Duh at University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and all who helped to make the meeting such a success.

The ERNACT network gathered in Slovenia's capital this June for its first Interregional Management Committee meeting of 2026, two days of collaboration and forward planning in one of Europe's most beautiful cities.

MINDSET’s new MOOC courses are now available to access

Developed from the tools, methods and experiences generated through the project, the courses support regional stakeholders in applying Regional Mission-Oriented Innovation approaches to societal challenges such as skills development, climate action, housing and public real estate.

Led by Umeå University and delivered through Digital Impact North EDIH, the MOOCs help turn MINDSET’s knowledge into accessible learning resources for long-term use.

At ERNACT's IMC meeting in Ljubljana, we had the pleasure of hearing from Claudia Oliveira, Programme Manager - EU Policies at European Commission - DG DIGIT, and it did not disappoint.

Claudia joined us online and walked us through some of the most important building blocks of Europe's digital transformation, from the Interoperable Europe Act and the evolving European Interoperability Framework (EIF), to the Interoperable Europe Portal as a go-to hub for reusable interoperability solutions, and practical steps for regional and local administrations to get started.

The message was clear: interoperability isn't just a technical issue, it's a strategic enabler for better, more connected public services across Europe.

Thank you Claudia for an inspiring and genuinely insightful presentation! 👏

Day 1 of the ERNACT Network IMC Meeting brought together members from across the network at the beautiful University of Ljubljana.

We were warmly welcomed by Prof Dr Maja Klun, Vice-Rector of the University of Ljubljana, and Matej Grah, Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Slovenian National Parliament.

Communication updates followed, alongside key network and administrative updates, organisational development discussions. The afternoon focused on what matters most: future proposals for the network. Members reviewed the current proposal pipeline and open EU calls, followed by a strategic workshop on upcoming proposals.

A productive first day, with useful exchanges and a clear focus on strengthening cooperation across the ERNACT network.

Thank you to the University of Ljubljana for hosting, and to everyone who contributed to the discussions. Looking forward to Day 2.

Killybegs Information Centre: Promoting Local Attractions Through Immersive Virtual Experiences

Killybegs Information Centre, located along the Wild Atlantic Way, worked with Data2Sustain and to create immersive 360° virtual experiences that bring local heritage, culture and coastal highlights to life.

By capturing local knowledge, producing multimedia content and designing five VR-compatible virtual tours, the Centre now offers visitors a more engaging and accessible way to explore Killybegs, from historic ships to iconic heritage sites and scenic beaches.

This digital innovation helps encourage visitors, including cruise passengers, to spend more time in the area while also improving accessibility for those who may not be able to visit sites in person.
