Good luck to our Finn Valley College Leaving Certificate student Kara O'Neill, who will make history later today with Donegal Camogie when they play their first championship camogie game against Mayo, with a senior team playing in the Centra National League and Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Championship for the first time in 2026; Donegal last had a senior team in 2006, but this year is their first venture into the senior level competition. Kara discusses the significance of this progress in the Chris McNulty interview below. 💚💛

Last Saturday, in partnership with Síolta Chroí, we completed the second delivery of the City & Guilds Level 3 Farm Habitat Management course*, with a fourth on-site training day hosted at our Outdoor Education and Training Centre at Gartan (what other way would you wrap up a course at Gartan, other than on the water?!). Well done to the eight participants who completed the course, along with two of our staff members from Gartan.

During this course, students explored key aspects of sustainable land management, including:
- Hedgerow management and biodiversity enhancement
- Soil health and sustainable land use practices
- Habitat identification and conservation strategies
- Practical approaches to farm biodiversity planning

Thanks to our partners at Síolta Chroí, this year’s instructors, John and Laura from Future Oaks Farm, and guest speakers David Gilliland (Brook Hall), Julie Corry (Donegal County Council), Anthony Robb (ACRES Donegal), Mark McDowell (Hedgerows Ireland), Claire and Kevin (KPM Soils), and Hugh Tunney (Cairde na hEaragaile).

If this is an area of learning you’d like to explore, contact our Enterprise Engagement Officer Donna on 086 6069381.
