The AAA are now Solidarity - the left alternative. This new name reflects the many mass movements emerging on economic and social issues, from water charges, to repeal, to housing and LGBTQ equality. It also highlights the need for solidarity between these struggles, to build a left alternative to the rotten establishment parties. Join us - text SOLIDARITY to 0863676089.
Austerity is now the permanent policy of capitalism, driving a race to the bottom in wages, cuts to services and and lack of public housing. We need to build solidarity with the likes of the bus workers, women and young people fighting back against this.
The absolute rejection of the failed, stagnant so-called centre in Irish politics represented by Fine Gael and Fianna Fail was seen with the massive pro-choice protests for repeal on International Women’s Day. Solidarity will champion the growing, radical movement of a new generation who will not accept the continuation of old, establishment Ireland with its ties to the dead-weight of the Catholic Church.
In only a few weeks time, a whole number of Solidarity members including Paul Murphy TD, will be up in court facing trumped up charges as part of the Jobstown trials. Together with we will be exposing this stitch up and attack on the right to protest.
There is a big space opening up on the Left of Irish politics. Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are drawing closer together and as they do so Sinn Fein are opening up a discussion on the possibility of making coalition arrangements with them. The policies of the "extreme centre" have delivered a housing crisis, a crisis in the health service and a lockout of working people from the fruits of economic recovery.
We think that a huge desire for change will arise from all of this. We are determined that the desire for change be captured not by a populist Right but instead by a radical Left. Join us today - text SOLIDARITY to 0863676089
