Welcome news for the -West!

University Hospital Limerick has been announced as one of three new National Clinical Programme specialist community adult teams, with a new Eating Disorder Team for the Mid-West based in .

The team provides specialist, multidisciplinary assessment and treatment for people with eating disorders, supporting care as close to home as possible and reducing reliance on hospital-based treatment.

A very welcome development for Limerick and the wider Mid-West.

Raising the need for greater support for smaller rural and local pubs in Budget 2027.

Our local pubs are social anchors in our communities — and once a pub closes, it may never reopen.

The cost of doing business has increased significantly, while 64% of pubs that don’t serve food did not benefit from the 9% VAT rate.

Without targeted support, we risk seeing even more closures.

The Vintners’ Federation of Ireland has put forward an On-Trade Sustainability Scheme, and I believe it’s time we look seriously at measures like this.

The Government already uses tax credits to support industries such as film, digital gaming and television production. Our local pubs deserve support too.
