Mid West Simon Supporting those who are homeless and in food poverty in Clare, Limerick & N Tipperary RCN 20063450.

Our services, which cover the Mid West counties of Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary, include:

• Simon Housing- moving people out of homelessness and into independent living
• Long term supported accommodation
• Appropriate tailored support provided by qualified social care officers (Housing Support Officers).
• Back to work services, delivering supports to facilitate access to education, training and employment.
• Prevention and schools education, Medical school lectures
• Student placements in conjunction with colleges, UL and LIT, work placements
• Service user participation
• Planned new services across the region
• Part Time Volunteer programme
• Campaigns and social policy work

Our work goes far beyond emergency accommodation. We provide safe places to stay, permanent homes, Family Hub services, and vital food assistance through our Food Banks. But that’s just the beginning.

We offer wraparound supports - helping people overcome challenges, build confidence, and move towards lasting independence. Every day, we see the difference local support makes.

đź’› They needed food. But they worried someone else might need it more.

Recently, someone visited one of our Food Banks asking for just tea and sugar. When offered a full food parcel, they hesitated, explaining that others might need it more.

They left with the parcel, but their words stayed with us.

A powerful reminder that those with the least can sometimes teach us the most about generosity.

As Christmas approaches, we expect demand for emergency food assistance across the Mid-West to increase significantly.

Today marks the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

At Mid West Simon Community, we support people experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, or food poverty across Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary. This year’s theme, “Safe Homes for All,” speaks directly to the work we do every day - helping individuals and families access housing support, emergency food aid, and the practical help they need to rebuild with dignity, hope and independence.

A safe place to call home is fundamental. Together we can make a difference.

A heartfelt thank you to Panametrics for their generous support of Mid West Simon Community through The Crane Fund for Widows and Children.

Their donation of €6,472.06 will support the development of a play and sensory area at our Family Hub, creating a welcoming and engaging space for children and families.

Today at the Simon Week Conference, our CEO, Niall Garvey, took part in a Fireside Chat, sharing his perspective on preventing and addressing homelessness in Ireland alongside colleagues from across the Simon Community.

This year’s theme, “Homeless & Alone. One Big Push.”, draws attention to the particular challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness on their own, and the urgent need for greater action and support.

The latest figures show that 17,527 people were living in emergency accommodation across Ireland in July 2026.
Of the 11,868 adults, 7,244 were single adults facing homelessness alone.

Behind every number is a person without a place to call home. Single adults make up the majority of adults in emergency accommodation, yet too many remain without the appropriate housing and supports they need.

This Simon Week, we’re joining Simon Communities across Ireland in calling for urgent action to ensure that no one has to face homelessness alone.
