Join us this tomorrow (Sunday) in Bellaghy as we come together to mark the 45th anniversary of Óglach Francis Hughes.

The parade will assemble at 12noon near Bellaghy Bawn.

We will be joined by the participants of the 12km freedom run and the main oration will be given by lifelong republican Martina Anderson, who will reflect on Francis’s life, legacy, and the enduring impact of his sacrifice.

Óglach Bobby Sands

🇮🇪 45 years ago today, Bobby Sands died in the H-Blocks of Long Kesh after 66 days on hunger strike.

He became the first of ten Irish republican prisoners to die on hunger strike in 1981.

They defeated the British government's criminalisation policy – they were political prisoners.

We remember always the hunger strikers, the men of the H-Blocks and the women of Armagh with pride.

Sinn Féin councillor, Paddy Kelly addressing the Easter wreath laying ceremony in Glen, Maghera earlier today on this the 110th anniversary of the 1916 Rising.

Speaking to all assembled Cllr. Kelly added:

"As we remember with pride our fallen comrades, family members and friends in this Graveyard and throughout Ireland we must ensure collectively that the ideals proclaimed on the steps of the GPO in Dublin within the Proclamation of the Irish Republic are realised.

"We will be the generation of Irish Republicans that will finish the journey towards reunification and build a nation for all our people".

110 years on from the 1916 Rising, as we remember our patriot dead we also mark 100 years since Cumann na mBan created the Easter Lily.

Join us at 10:30am this Easter Sunday in Glen Graveyard for our annual wreath laying ceremony, 2:30pm at The Loup for the main County Derry Commemoration and on Easter Monday at 2:30pm in Swatragh as we remember our Republican dead. 🇮🇪
