A genuinely touching statement from Deputy Martin Daly, who is also a practising GP, during an Oireachtas meeting earlier this week, acknowledging the dedication and professionalism of EMTs, Paramedics and Advanced Paramedics across Ireland.

The ambulance service has changed enormously over the past 25 years. What was once largely a transport focused service has evolved into a highly skilled, clinically driven profession, with practitioners delivering increasingly complex assessments, treatments and life saving interventions in communities across the country.

It's refreshing to hear a public representative acknowledge just how far our profession has come and the responsibility that comes with it.

Recognition like this means a great deal to those working on the frontline. Thank you, Deputy, for your kind words and for highlighting the incredible work carried out by ambulance professionals every day. 👏🚑

A massive thank you to the members of the public who came out to support us during today's strike action, especially those who kindly brought us food, drinks and words of encouragement.

Your generosity and support mean an awful lot to us.

As Maynooth Ambulance Station staff, we take great pride in serving our communities, and seeing that same support returned today was genuinely heartwarming.

Tomorrow (14/10/26), public sector workers across the country will be taking industrial action.

From everyone at
Maynooth Ambulance Station and the National Ambulance Service (NAS) we want to reassure the public that emergency ambulance cover will still be provided, with arrangements in place to protect patient safety.

Nobody working in healthcare takes industrial action lightly. We entered these professions to help people, and that commitment remains unchanged.

🚨Assaulting an emergency worker can have serious consequences.

Irish law specifically protects Gardaí, ambulance personnel, firefighters, prison officers and members of the Defence Forces while carrying out their duties.

Assaulting or threatening an emergency worker can result in criminal prosecution and, for serious offences prosecuted on indictment, up to 12 years imprisonment.

Young offenders you are not exempt anyone under 18 can also face criminal proceedings through the youth justice system.

Emergency workers are there to help, violence and threats will not be tolerated.

Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994, Section 19(1), (2) & (6), as amended by Section 185 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006.

To everyone who supported paramedics throughout this process, thank you. Your messages, encouragement, and understanding meant more than you know.

Our members voted to accept the Labour courts pay proposal. While we're pleased to move forward, this situation should never have reached this point. We hope the lessons learned will help ensure healthcare staff are treated with the respect and fairness they deserve in the future.
