Water Safety Ireland - Monaghan

Following some enquiries, we plan to run an adults only water safety class for 5 weeks after the Easter Break (13th April to 18th May) from 9pm to 10pm immediately after our normal water safety classes.

Spaces will be limited as we only have 1 lane but if it's something that you would like to try out etc. please email [email protected] to register your interest.

For adult classes, participants need to be able to swim Frontcrawl and Breaststroke (2 lengths of each). We would hope to be able to get that group through an exam before the end of term.

General registration for our classes for this coming September is now open. We will be returning to the pool on Monday 15th September from 8:00 - 9:00pm

Please fill out the below Google Form to register for a class. Siblings will need to fill out separate forms. If classes are full, a waiting list will be in operation. We will be in touch towards the end of the month to confirm places etc. We are limited by lane space in the pool as to how many students we can accommodate per lane. We also have a lot of returning students this year which will limit our number of new starters.

******Registration Update 2025*****

We hope you all are having an enjoyable summer break.

Registration will re-open in mid-late August, firstly for those currently in classes who are returning this term and then (usually a week or so later) for new students.

This allows the Committee to plan for lanes and classes and to see how many returning students/ spaces we have before we open general registration for new students.

You can also email [email protected] to be put on our mailing list and we can email you when registration is open.

Please put mailing list in the subject line of the email.

A very important reminder- in order to join our classes, students must be at least 10 years of age and be able to swim one length of Monaghan Pool (25m) WITHOUT armbands.

Registration for classes for Returning Students Only will open this Monday 12th August. Parents of students who were in classes last term will be contacted by whatsapp with the link to register returning students ONLY.

Congratulations to our 3 Committee Members who received Awards at yesterday's National Award Ceremony in Dublin Castle. The Awards were presented by Minister of State Thomas Byrne and Clare McGrath, National Chair of Water Safety Ireland.

Our 3 Award recipients were:

- Siobhán Douglas, Examiner, Instructor and Committee Treasurer - 15 Year Service Medal of Honour

- Gearóid McCarthy Water Safety Development Officer and Committee Secretary - 15 Year Service Medal of Honour

- Peadar Ó Lamhna, Examiner, Instructor, DLP and Committee Chair - Bronze Bar for 20 Years Service.
