✨Monaghan County Council is proud to officially launch the Monaghan Eco Energy Project (MEEP) in partnership with EnergyCloud Ireland and SSE Airtricity.
This innovative initiative will see 70 social homes benefit from free hot water, powered by surplus renewable energy that would otherwise go to waste. Installations will begin in the coming months, helping to reduce household energy costs while supporting Ireland’s climate action goals.

💧 How it works:
Homes will receive smart EnergyCloud devices that automatically heat water when excess renewable electricity is available on the grid—meaning hot water at no cost to tenants.

This is a strong example of partnership in action—supporting communities, tackling energy poverty, and making better use of renewable energy.

National Food Waste Recycling Week 2026 is here, running from May 30th to June 7th!

To everyone already making great use of their brown bins, thank you for your fantastic efforts. You're making a real difference for Ireland's environment.

This year, MyWaste is encouraging us all to elevate our brown bin use even further. To maximise the impact of your brown bin during and beyond, here are three areas to focus on:
1. Line Your Caddy: Always use certified compostable liners in your kitchen caddy for a cleaner, more hygienic experience.
2. Present More Often: Don't wait for your brown bin to be completely full. Put it out regularly on your collection dates, even if it is only partially full, to maintain a consistent recycling routine and ensure efficiency.
3. Stay Vigilant Against Contamination: Take a moment to double-check items, remove all packaging, and be aware of common "bin intruders" to keep your brown bin pure.

For more information on proper usage, please visit MyWaste.ie for a comprehensive A-Z guide, helpful tips, and answers to FAQs.

Together, we can continue to strengthen Ireland's circular economy!

The June bank holiday is always one of the busiest periods on Irish roads. Summer festivities are in full swing and many of us will use the long weekend as an opportunity to enjoy outdoor events.
Unfortunately, with an increase in road use comes a higher risk of fatal or serious injury road traffic collisions.
An Garda Síochána’s June bank holiday weekend roads policing operation, which focuses on keeping the roads safe, is currently underway and continues until Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
