Domestic Violence Response Ltd D.V.R. provide free and confidential counselling and support to women and children effected by domestic violence. Domestic Violence Response (D.V.R.)

Tel: 091 866740; [email protected] is a rural based project responding to the issue of domestic violence primarily in West Galway. The project is managed by a voluntary management committee. D.V.R aims to identify and respond to the needs of women and children in Co. Galway who are subjected to violence and abuse in the home and to develop long-term responses that work towards the

elimination of domestic violence. provides the following services:

• Free and confidential counselling and support
• Telephone support
• Outreach service
• Accompaniment to other services e.g. guards, court
• Child play therapy
• Referral to other services
• Transport to refuges
• Preparation of marital and relationship histories
• Advocacy work
• Liaising with other service providers
• Prevention, Education and Awareness Raising


Domestic Violence can involve:

Emotional Abuse (Mind games making you think you are crazy)

Verbal Abuse (Name calling, criticising, constant put-downs)

Physical Abuse (Hitting, shoving, biting)

Financial Abuse(Controlling all the money, making you beg for money)

Sexual Abuse (Treating you like a sex object)
