The June Bank Holiday Road Safety Operation in Westmeath has commenced today and will run until Tuesday the 2nd of June

As part of this operation, our members will be performing speed checks, checkpoints and high visibility patrols in the Division

We ask that you:

● Never ever drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs
● Keep within the designated speed limits on local and national roads
● Ensure all persons travelling are wearing their safety belts and children are in proper restraints
● Do not use/hold a mobile phone whilst driving

We hope motorists enjoy their bank holiday weekend and arrive at their destination safely

📣To Facilitate the Westmeath -v- Cavan Match on Saturday 30th May 2026

Carpark opposite Cusack Park will be closed all day and Friars Mill Road will be closed from 3pm - 8pm from the junction with Castle Street to Austin Friars Street Carpark (Buckley's)

St. Loman’s and Oliver Plunkett’s will have their car parks open for parking on Saturday. People with Disabilities (on presentation of their badges) will be allowed access by An Garda Siochana into Friars Mill Road.📣To Facilitate the Westmeath -v- Cavan Match on Saturday 30th May 2026

Anyone seeking a disability parking space will need to arrive as early as possible. Access will only be available via Gilleran’s Bar to Friars Mill Road (Cusack Park Carpark).

Dublin will take on Westmeath at Croke Park in the Leinster Senior Finals on Sunday 17th May 2026.
There will be local road closures in place from 10.30am. Please note vehicle clamping will be in in operation in areas around Croke Park for cars that are illegally parked.
All persons attending Croke Park tomorrow/today should plan their route, utilize public transport, park & ride facilities or use city centre public car parks.
• No person will be admitted inside the cordon without a ticket.
• Arrive early, stiles are open at 11am.
• Have your ticket downloaded in advance.
• Follow the instructions of Stewards and An Garda Síochána.
• Supporters are reminded that items such as flares and smoke canisters are dangerous and illegal and are not permitted inside the stadium.
• Anti-social behavior will not be tolerated.
Coach parking is available at the following locations: https://www.dublincity.ie/.../coach-parking-dublin-city. No coach parking or drop offs will be facilitated in the vicinity of Croke Park.

💜 Go Purple Day 💜

Today we went purple to stand against domestic violence both locally and nationally.

Our members in Westmeath held information stands in both Athlone and Mullingar to raise awareness.

We were delighted to have been supported by staff from Esker House who provide invaluable support to victims of domestic violence.

This initiative was started by our colleague Garda Stacey Looby of Athlone Garda Station and she has played a pivotal role in highlighting supports and safe spaces available. She has helped created a community where victims can feel that they are not alone.

We would also like to thank Student Garda Kayleigh Shine of Athlone Garda Station and her team mates from the Athlone Town Senior Ladies team for showing their support for this campaign.
