The My Open Library initiative in Mullingar allows you to access from 8am through until 10pm, seven days a week. Your library is your space to relax and read, study and research, write and use the computers and have access to a printer. Please contact a member of staff if you would like to become a MOL member

Please note this session is on Friday 14th August. An earlier post had an incorrect date📢📢 Due to popular demand we have added an extra VEX Robot Building Workshop 🤖✨Create and learn more about the world of robotics with our STEM Engagement officer Kelley. During this workshop, participants will work in pairs to build a VEX robotic car and learn how to drive it. Suitable for ages 8 - 12 years. 🤖✨

As part of the archive’s future digitisation strategy we will use the DRI as our trusted repository for storing and making accessible our key digital collections - we'll be uploading our material later this year.

Heritage Week 2026 takes place between the 15th and 23rd August. There’s lots of events planned for Westmeath. Westmeath Archives and Local Studies will host two talks focused on archives which have been digitised – one by historian Aengus Finnegan on Wed 19th and another by Westmeath Co Archivist, Martin Fagan on Mon 17th . Our digitisation project has been funded through the Heritage Council’s Heritage Stewardship Fund 2026.

Castlepollard Library is hoping to establish an Age-Friendly Book Club for older library users. If you're a retired person who would be interesting in getting involved in a book club that meets in the morning or early afternoon, why not join us in the library to help get the club up and running? Our first meeting will take place on Wednesday, 5th August at 11:00 am when we'll be discussing how members would like to run the book club and how often they'd like to meet.
