For anyone who remembers the magic of Punchestown… this rare and unique story captures not just the moment, but the feeling around it.

With my brother-in-law’s voice bringing my story to life, my hope was to let you step back in time—full of life, laughter, and a warmth you don’t quite realise you’ll miss until it’s gone. Enjoy.

In the beginning there was ChristmasThen there was EasterAnd then there was PunchestownThe festival of festivalsThe town closedThe priest from the altar“Today is Walking SundayThis is the fifth Sunday after EasterThis is the first Sunday before Punchestown Walking SundayWomen with pramsChildren an...

A ROBIN SANG FOR ME THIS MORNING

A Robin sang for me this morning In branches hidden by leaves I did not search for the singing bird For searching quenches the quiet mind Throws mindfulness into the ditch And I could disturb the rupture of its song I did not wonder where the voice came from Or the generations that made the bird Or wonder how its beak makes its sound But I walked down the wood With the bird singing Adding its smile to leafy branches.

OTTER

An otter swam up the canal Swimming a delightful backstroke Rolling like a barrel Smiling with delight Parting the waters With its head Doing the harbour stroll Contented in its contentment Suddenly All hell breaks loose Danger is spotted The word is out Within seconds, pandemonium Water hens come from nowhere Raging ducks gather around him All shouting, roaring and flapping their wings…...

Our Shop on Christmas Eve - https://share.google/m9P13jklaMi5AJy66

Happy Christmas everyone

My father died when I was very young. He was a very successful businessman who had four butcher shops and was a commercial traveler who went as far as County Clare, where, he met, fell in love with and married my mother. After his untimely death my mother closed the butcher shops and turned our shop...

The starlings have gathered

The starlings have gathered In their brownie black Flying in triumph There and back They screen to sun Like salty sand Thrown like grains from an open hand And maybe Or maybe not This is my lot To sit and dream upon my back Watching the starlings in brownie black

On walking by the Abbey Bridge I heard a voice singing It was so soft and beautiful Commanding me to stop and listen There sat a beautiful little girl All in black under the bridge Her feet dangling towards the water In rhythm with the song I approach with caution Enquiring the name of the song My own song To the tune of SATURDAY NIGHT by THE MISFITS And I was lost in time.

It is the evening of another day I walk along the canal Swans in a love call Two ducks taking off Leaving a multitude of whirlpools behind And I battered and bruised Bogged down by memos and deadlines In an efficiency of the now I walked to the sound of crow Half hidden in ivy branches As my foot snaps the dead twigs Leaving an echo behind I swim under the ice And hope to come up breathing.
