Dedicated to the memory of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, President of the United States from 1961 to 1963, the Arboretum is a plant collection of international standing. It covers 252 hectares (623 acres) on the southern slopes and summit of Slievecoiltia. It contains 4,500 types of trees and shrubs from all temperate regions of the world, planted in botanical sequence. Special features include an Eric

aceous Garden, (with 500 different rhododendrons, and many varieties of azaleas and heathers), dwarf conifers, hedges, ground covers and climbing plants. The lake is the most popular part of the Arboretum, and is a haven for waterfowl. A road provides access to the summit at 271m from which there are panoramic views. A Visitor Centre houses exhibitions and audio visual show. Location: 12 km south of New Ross (off R733). Latitude 52.32211. Longitude -6.93147

Exciting events for Families during the Bealtaine Living Earth Festival! 🍃

Join us 16-24 May for a variety of events across the South East celebrating Irish heritage and Biodiversity.

🦎 Find out what kind of organisms are living in freshwater by scooping water and sediment from the JFK ponds at the Freshwater Pond Dipping event.
Saturday, 16 May at 1pm

🦋 Castlecomer Discovery Park is delighted to be hosting FREE children’s activities to celebrate biodiversity week! Drop in on Saturday 16th of May from 11am, for a variety of activity stations celebrating the park’s bees 🐝, butterflies 🦋 and moths!

🦕 Join the Copper Coast Geologist on 17 May at 11am to explore records of ancient life preserved in Waterford’s footpaths and buildings in this walking trail.

🌺 On 23 May at 10am, a dedicated Tramore Eco-Group member will present their exciting project of creating a dune garden for this year’s Bloom Festival. Learn about the group’s efforts to restore the Tramore Sand Dunes, as well as the importance of preserving our natural landscapes.

All events are FREE, booking is essential.
