Oughterard Courthouse is delighted to host an upcoming exhibition entitled “Tropic Signal in Grey Light”. Haitian - American Hansel Vieuxpatinaeh and Brazilian Arthur Rosa will launch their joint exhibition on Friday 29th May at 7pm, the launch includes music and refreshments and all are welcome. The exhibition will run from Saturday 30th May to bank holiday Monday1st June. 10am – 5pm (opening Sunday at 12pm)

Hansel is a self-taught abstract painter whose practice is shaped by a transatlantic life experience. Born in the West Indies and raised in New York City, he is now based in the west of Ireland. He works primarily in acrylic and mixed media, with a strong and unmistakable influence of music, which plays a vital role in the development of his work.

Arthur is a Brazilian artist based in Galway. Self-taught and intuitive, he began painting through his connection with music, creating album covers, posters, and visual pieces from his own paintings. With works in public and private collections, he has gained recognition on the contemporary art scene as a distinctive figure of lyrical neo-expressionism, creating pictorial compositions rich in dreamlike intensity and emotional depth.
