Ógra Fianna Fáil was founded during the period of 1974 / 75 so that a specific youth section of Fianna Fáil was established to cater for the needs of young people in the Party. It was formed in 1974 to play an active role in party matters, recruiting members and working on election campaigns. Today, Ógra Fianna Fáil is Ireland's largest political youth movement, and has had a presence in this constituency since its foundation as the youth wing of the Republican Party in the mid-1970s. Today, the Laois branch of Ógra has been reformed after a gap of 5 years and seeks to be a major part of the renewal of the Fianna Fáil party in Laois. Laois Ógra sends delegations to party Youth Conferences, Ard-Fheiseanna, Summer Schools and other confernences as well as Fianna Fáil Cumann, Comhairle Ceantair and Comhairle Dáil Ceantair meetings. We support other Ógra events and regularly organise our own events in the constituency, many of which are for charity. Many of our members are actively involved in and have held key positions in many Third Level Cumainn. Meetings take place at least once a month, and provide an opportunity for members to discuss issues of importance to young people with Fianna Fáil's public representatives in the area. Membership is open to people aged between 16 and 25. Join the Party! The Laois Comhairle Dáil Ceantair (CDC) is comprised of delegates from every Comhairle Ceantair (CC) and Coiste Áitiúil (CA) in the constituency, each with its own officer board. - To promote Irish Republicanism amongst the young people of Laois.
- To promote the aims, objectives and values of Fianna Fáil amongst the young people of Laois
- To promote Irish nationalism, history, language, culture and traditions amongst the young people of Laois.
- To ensure that the young people of Laois, who wish to do so, have the opportunity to take part in productive political debate, discussion and activity.
- To promote greater involvement and participation of young people at all levels of Fianna Fáil in Laois.
- To work with other Fianna Fáil party units in providing an effective and organised campaign team at elections and policy campaigns.
- To encourage and promote as many young candidates as possible for Fianna Fáil in Laois.
- To highlight and campaign for the needs and issues that effect and interest all young people in Laois.

Real Republicanism is democratic government by the people for the people and is founded on the principals of equal rights and equal opportunities for everyone regardless of class, s*x, or religion. Our Republicanism is based on Irish Republican ideals first asserted by the United Irishmen in the 1790s. They aimed to demolish a political system rooted in sectarian privilege and replaced it with secular democratic politics, founded on universal ideas of equality and justice. Those values found expression much later in the 1916 Proclamation, the birth certificate of the Irish Republic. The proclamation guaranteed equal rights and equal opportunities to all citizens and declared "its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all the children of the nation equally". These objectives were once again expressed in the Democratic Programme of the first Dáil, which had Eamonn de Valera as its President.
