Introducing Rathcabbin’s “Greenhouse Hub”.
Our projects from our community biodiversity action plan continue to serve our sustainability, climate action and biodiversity progress for our area. This Greenhouse Hub aligns to most of the Sustainable Development Goals as agreed by the UN for 2030 - and works to support the five pillars within community for great good.
Thanks to the pastoral council for considering our proposal options and to Nora Kennedy and Ger Slevin as important link and support people to help us with plans and the work. Huge thanks also to Denise Clancy & Flan Kennedy for onsite work through the project supporting the work done by all the Tidy Towns members onsite as well. Thanks to Ciaran Young and Smyths for kind gravel and machinery donations and to Eddie Wilson and to Tom Perry also with the dig outs needed.
As a community, your help and support is always appreciated so the raffle tickets purchased or coming to events we host made this possible. We truly never have the money otherwise. We are greatful to our funders help also Community Foundation Ireland and some monies used from Pobal and Tidy Towns funds along with the support of Tipp Coco for answering questions.
This area already supports our Tri approach road project, helps us work more productively & efficiently in the village, has allowed us to host a CE Scheme with Shannonside Development and supported our biggest plant sale and flower bed enhancements this year.
It takes a village. We enjoyed the collaboration with everyone who helped and are glad to have this job done right for the decades ahead which will enable new future projects to occur.
The steel shed was built by Tom Ryan who did and impeccable job as did Ger Slevin on the paving area with supplies all local. Circular economy all the way. The very last step will be Jack Ryan for shed lights prior to winter, enabling the storage area to have some indoor work space if we require.
