We've been asked to spread the word about a fabulous opportunity for community groups, Tidy Towns Groups etc across . Casey's Londis, Roscommon are looking for 5 communities to avail of up to 50 fruit trees to create a community orchard. So what do you need?

* Size of the area required - ideally big enough to accommodate the 50 trees but could have smaller community orchards of ranging from 10-50 trees.

* The initiative is in conjunction with local community groups - the success of the initiative is very much dependant on community group participation

* The local groups maintain the community orchards

* It's open to any parts of County Roscommon

The community orchard location should be:

*Accessible to all the community

* Not beside houses - This avoids people complaining about trees blocking their light, potential complaints about the roots of the trees, potential complaints of pests if fruit is not collected when it falls, potential complaints about leaves falling.

If your group fulfill this criteria, are passionate about creating and maintaining a community orchard, contact [email protected] by October 15th 2022 and we will put your proposal forward to Caseys Londis Roscommon
