Our friends at RNLI Lough Derg are hosting their popular Lap of the Lake cycle this Saturday and there is still plenty of time for the cyclists among us, to register.

Cyclists can choose between a 120km route or a shorter 65km one.
The longer route will take participants on a full circuit of Lough Derg, giving entrants the chance to cycle through three counties, Tipperary, Clare and Galway.
The shorter route will take cyclists just beyond Killaloe to a turnaround point at Killaloe Sailing Club. The scenery along the way is unparalleled, providing cyclists with the opportunity to appreciate the magnificence of the lake and River Shannon.

Our lifeboat launched earlier today to assist a lone sailor who had fouled his rudder in a lobster pot. Thankfully our volunteer crew were able to free him from the tangle and he continued on his way. Click the link in the comments for the full story!!

Easter and Summer are just around the corner – are your secondary school students water safety ready?

To help, the RNLI is hosting free one-hour webinars to equip students with the tools to stay safe around coastal and inland waters.

You can choose a session to suit. The webinars will run on Wednesday and Thursdays from 10-11am from 25 March - 28 May.

Huge congratulations to Aileen Boylan and Sarah Keane who passed out last week as Tier 1 crew with RNLI Trainer/Assessor Mark Mitchell. A big well done also to Joe May and Emma Wilson who revalidated their competencies as Helm.

Our volunteers train hard all year round, in all kinds of conditions, to ensure they are ready to answer the call when someone gets into difficulty on the water. It's always great to see their hard work paying off 👏👏

Our volunteers rescued three men after two boats got into difficulty near the Perch marker yesterday afternoon.

*****FANCY DRESS REINDEER WALK******

This Saturday (13th December) there will be a fancy dress reindeer walk in aid of Skerries lifeboat.

Gathering at the lifeboat station at 12pm the walk will proceed down the Harbour Rd., along Strand St., through Manning's Gap
and back along the South Strand and Red Island (Approx 2.5k). Fundraising volunteers will be doing a bucket collection along the way.
