This weekend, We had a crew provide ambulance and first aid cover once again to the Sligo Rovers Women team for their match against Cork City.

It was a beautiful day for a game of football and the result was also fantastic. Sligo coming away with a 4 - 0 win after a storming first half display. The team are on a great run of form and in a great position in the table going into the Mid season break.

Another busy weekend for our crews here in Sligo. On Saturday night, we once again provided for Sligo rovers at the Showgrounds for their local derby game vs Galway United. A huge attendance on the evening was fantastic to see but unfortunately the result was not what we wanted. Onwards and upwards to the next game.

On Sunday, we had a crew onsite to assist with first aid cover for the Bike Week event in Doorly Park in Sligo where people of all ages came out to enjoy the event. thankfully the weather held and all patrons returned home safely.

Once again, we thank our volunteers for their hours and efforts given to the community.

Yesterday we continued our work in the community and our collaboration with Sligo Rovers F.C. and assisted with the Integration Football event which took place at the Showgrounds. Some great football played in a warm and welcoming environment. Sligo Civil Defence are always happy to help with such community events and are happy to get behind the message of Football For All. Last May Bank Holiday weekend, our teams were incredibly busy as always. We had a number of duties across the county over the duration of the long weekend. As always, our volunteers turned out in great numbers and ensured all patrons were given exceptional care and support and thankfully all went home happy.

On the Saturday we had a large team provide support to the Uisce Ailann Festival that took place in Doorly Park and focused on water based activities, family fun and education.

Later that evening we had a crew providing Ambulance cover for Sligo Rovers Women who had a fantastic win over Bohemians at the showgrounds. A fantastic display from the team to get a vital win with 5 goals scored. onwards and upwards for the team.

Sunday evening we provided first aid cover for a memorial walk which took place in Easkey in the West of the county. Large numbers were in attendance on the day and all were given professional care as always.

To round off the weekend, we were once again back at the Showgrounds where the Sligo Rovers F.C. mens teams battled hard in a draw game against high flying St Patricks Athletic. Beautiful weather brought out a huge crowd of supporters and Sligo Civil Defence were there in great numbers to ensure fans and player alike were looked after.

Thanks as always to our fantastic volunteers for all their hard work, time and dedication. Your communities appreciate your help greatly

☎️ European 112 Day
Today highlights the importance of 112, the emergency number that works across Ireland, the EU, the UK, Switzerland and Turkey.
If you need urgent help, dial 112 or 999. You will be connected to a trained operator who will ask what has happened and your location before sending the appropriate service — Ambulance, Fire Service, Gardaí or Coast Guard.

Key things to remember in an emergency:
• Stay calm and speak clearly
• Know your Eircode or describe your location as accurately as possible
• Give the phone number you are calling from
• Explain what has happened and how many people are involved
• Follow the call taker’s instructions and stay on the line until told to hang up
• Call back if your location or situation changes
If you are waiting for emergency services:
• Stay where you are if safe to do so
• Send someone to meet crews if in a large building or remote area
• At home, open doors, turn on lights and secure pets

112 can also be used by SMS if you are deaf or hard of hearing — registration details are available at www.112.ie.
Knowing what to do can make a real difference.
Please take a moment to share this information with family and friends.
