Sligo County Fire Service A brief glimpse of life in Sligo Fire Brigade, past and present. Sligo County is serviced by 4 fire stations.

Ballymote, Enniscrone, Tubbercurry and Sligo City/ Borough covering a population of over 65,000 and responding to over 1000 calls per annum. Sligo City/ Borough unit is the largest and busiest attending 650 calls per annum. Sligo has 24 firefighters working 24/7 x 7 days on and 24/7 x 7 days off. Sligo is designated a gateway city and earmarked for investment and development, and has a port, airpo

rt, rail network and busy road infrastructure in its fire ground, among various large industrial, commerial and residential developments. SO11 (Sierra Oscar one-one) fleet includes 2 Pumps (Scania's, Alpha 1 & 2), 1 Emergency Tender (Scania, Bravo 1), 1 Aerial Platform (Scania, Echo 1), 1 4x4 (Toyota Landcruiser, Juliet 1), 1 van (Fiat Cargo, Mike 1), 1 Chemical Incident Unit (Mercedes, Golf 1), 1 Water tanker (Volvo, Kilo 1), 2 Reserve Pumps (Mercedes, Alpha 3 & 4).

Sligo Fire Service carried out a joint training exercise at Sligo University Hospital (SUH) Helipad with the soon to be introduced HSE HEMS EC135 helicopter and SUH security staff. The HSE HEMS helicopter will be based at Strandhill Airport along with Coastguard Rescue 118. We continue to work with our fellow emergency
responders in the National Ambulance Service and Coastguard delivering a first class service to the communities we serve. The introduction of HSE HEMS will help save lives.

Sligo Fire Service are proud to be holding the 67th Chief Fire Officers Association Annual Conference in the Radisson Hotel in the beautiful Rosses Point 6th and 7th May. A fantastic opportunity to showcase our beautiful County and showcase the best of the Irish Fire Service and our suppliers - as can be seen from the videos. Sligo Fire Service Training Centre continuing to meet the challenge of delivering multiple courses to meet the demands of a modern highly trained national workforce. Our adaptability and flexibility plus excellent support from our instructors, course assistants and operational staff ensures that even when stretched we can deliver. Simultaneously running a QQI Firefighting Skills and QQI CFB course for the NDFEM, BA refreshers for Clare Fire Service and delivering EFR and CFR-A courses to our own staff and Clare Fire Service, Longford, Donegal and Leitrim Fire Services, plus FAR to Sligo County Council staff through our PHECC Approved Training Institute.
Huge thanks to all our staff who play a vital role in the operation of our training centres👏

All of us in Sligo Fire Service are saddened to hear of the passing of James Lucey of Kilkee Fire Brigade, Clare County Fire Service.
As well as proudly serving his local community as a Firefighter, James also volunteered with the Kilkee Unit of the Irish Coastguard.

All at Sligo Fire Service wish to extend our sympathies to his wife and family, his friends, colleagues in Clare County Fire & Rescue Service, and in the Irish Coastguard.
