Last week, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill warned that fuel protestors might disrupt ambulance services in an effort to turn public opinion against them. One week on, the ball is in the government’s court.

If they truly care about preventing disruption, they can act now. Instead of forcing ambulance workers into strike action, they should meet their demands and deliver the pay deal these workers are fighting for.

Oil prices in Sligo are spiralling — and ordinary people are paying the price. Heating oil has jumped from under €500 to over €830 for 500 litres in weeks.

Where is the support for ordinary people? The current package does nothing for ordinary families.

We need urgent action:
• Lower heating oil prices
• Introduce a price cap to protect households

We need to take to the streets and force the government to act!

Heating oil in Sligo has jumped from under €500 to over €830 for 500 litres in weeks.

That’s hundreds extra just to heat your home.

The current package does nothing for ordinary families.

People are being forced to choose between heating and eating.

We need price caps now.

We need a movement on the streets to force the government to act.

The government and their “independent” lackeys have voted confidence in themselves 92 to 78. We need a cost of living revolt up and down this country of ordinary people coming out and showing the government exactly how much confidence the have in them. Our trade unions should be mobilising, if you’re a member if you’re a worker demand your union call for mobilisations against the government.

We’re being told the protests are “too disruptive.”

But what’s really disruptive is the crisis people are living through every day.

Families choosing between heating and eating.
A 14-month wait for an MRI.
Children waiting years for a CAMHS assessment.
The GP list that’s been closed for two years.
€2,200 rent for a one-bed apartment
Single mothers living with their children in hotel rooms for years.
Over 4,000 children homeless.
Schools with no places.

That’s disruption. That’s the reality for ordinary people. That's the system that Fianna Fail and Fine Gael preside over.

And yet we’re told Ireland is one of the richest countries in Europe, with a €23 billion budget surplus.

So where is it?

The financial package for industry does nothing for workers, families, or small farmers. It doesn’t touch the real cost of living.

This shows we need more pressure, not less. Real change has never comes without disruption.

Workers need to enter the stage. We need the Unions to act.

Because this crisis won’t fix itself - and the government won’t act unless it’s forced to.
