The HSE National Ambulance Service (NAS) is continually working to improve the care provided to HSE patients and provide much faster access to care. Innovations in ambulance service provision, such as the introduction of the Advanced Paramedic training programme and a system of up-skilling for the 1,200 Paramedics, have produced significant improvements in patient care.

In the car this bank holiday weekend? 69 people have died on our roads already this year, so we're asking you to please slow down and stay safe.

Put your phone down, never ever drive under the influence and always make a plan for getting home.

Má bhíonn tú ar an mbóthar inniú nó thar an deireadh seachtaine, tóg go bog é agus tiomáin go cúramach.

Our staff and services are busy this bank holiday weekend, working hard to care for all those who need it.

Please only call an ambulance in a real emergency and if you need care, consider all your options including your local injury unit, out-of-hours GP and pharmacist. Má tá tú ag aireachtáil tinn agus cúram ag teastáil uait, smaoinigh ar na roghanna go léir.

Last Friday was a special day in Portlaoise Ambulance Station. It's not too often that we get to meet up with the patients we treat, but one particular patient was determined to meet the crews that came to his assistance when Albert suffered a Cardiac Arrest at home in February.

Derek and Róisín from Naas Ambulance Station were first on scene and quickly followed by Paddy and Claire from Portlaoise Ambulance Station and Off Duty Responder Pat.

Thankfully Albert has made a good recovery and he and his wife Sylvia were delighted to meet up with the crews and thank them in person.

The Adult Critical Care Transport (ACCT) training has been busy so far this year, with 138 professionals trained.

Training was hosted in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda; Sligo; Cavan; University Hospital Galway; St James’s Hospital; Letterkenny and Portlaoise. Many thanks to all the faculty from Critical care departments and our own teams in NAS.

A special mention to Sligo University Hospital who now have sufficient faculty trained to facilitate the course themselves independently with remote support.

More training days to come!
